Lost and Found
If you have lost your pet or found a stray, please visit us immediately at our Coyote Point Shelter (12 Airport Blvd in San Mateo), our intake facility for all incoming animals. Each year, we reunite thousands of stray pets with their human companions.
If you have lost an animal and cannot visit right away, please call 650-340-7022 for help. Keep in mind that we can’t make positive identifications over the phone or web. Stray animals are held for the state mandated four-day period (excluding the day they arrive) before being evaluated for adoption. Click here to download “Do You Have a Lost Pet,” which includes steps on what to do, tips and advice, helpful websites, and other resources.
Those who have lost or found pets may utilize our Lost and Found Flyers. Post this flyer (with the animal’s photo) in areas of your neighborhood where posting is allowed.
If you have found a pet and would like to keep and care for it at your home instead of bringing it to our Coyote Point Shelter, please fill out the Found Animal form below. Please know should there be a positive identification on the animal in your care, we will share your contact information from the Found report with the potential owner to reunite the animal with its owner. If you do not with wish your contact information to be shared with the potential owner, please do not fill out the Found report and bring the animal into our Coyote Point Shelter.
