Our volunteers are indispensable. These dedicated community members come from all walks of life to donate thousands of hours of their time in virtually every department of the shelter, extending the capacity for our paid staff to help thousands of animals and the people of San Mateo County. Some are here 2 or 3 days per week, while others come in one afternoon. All levels of commitment are greatly appreciated. Aside from offering an opportunity for important work you will help us provide lifesaving services and meaningful programs. If you love animals and like working with people, consider volunteering in our award winning program. You can read about the different volunteer positions. Unless otherwise noted, volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and the positions require a commitment of 2-3 hours per week for one year. If you are 13-17 years of age and want to volunteer, please see junior volunteer positions. We are unable to accept volunteers under the age of 13.

To become a volunteer, simply complete a Volunteer Application. Your on-line application will be forwarded to the Volunteer Services Department at the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA. If you need an application sent to you, contact Volunteer Services, at 650/340-7022 x370 or volunteers@PHS-SPCA.org.
Once your application is received, you will be invited to attend the next available New Volunteer Orientation. Please allow up to 30 days to receive an invitation to an orientation. Space is limited. Please RSVP to the invitation by the specified deadline. dates for upcoming orientations
