14th Annual Mutt Strutt

Start planning now to join the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA for their annual Mutt Strutt dog walk-a-thon.  It’s never too early to start planning your day by the bay all while supporting the animals.  The Mutt Strutt is a great way for you and your best friend to spend a summer morning!

Getting to Know Your Dog

Want to start off on the right “paw” with your new dog?

PHS/SPCA has designed this annual class for people who are preparing to get a dog or have recently adopted one.  Participants will get advice on:

• housetraining
• jumping
• walking on a leash without pulling
• mouthiness
• introductions to animals already in the household and other issues new adopters commonly face

The effects of breed and age on behavior will also be addressed.  Join our Behavior experts for an informative evening!  (Please leave your dogs at home).  Held at 12 Airport Blvd., San Mateo.  To sign up, call the Behavior Dept. at 650/340-7022 x306.

Bring Your Donations To PHS/SPCA Day!

Friday, August 22, from 9-11am
PHS/SPCA parking lot (at the Pick of the Litter truck)

Drop-off gently used clothing, furniture, household items, etc. All donations go to our resale shop, Pick of the Litter, located at 1127 Chula Vista Ave., Burlingame (650/344.1662); where proceeds from sales help us treat, then find homes for more animals.

Of course, you can drop off items at the store 7 days a week, during business hours (M-S  11am-6pm, Sunday noon-4pm)

Bloomingdale’s Shopping Benefit Day

Bloomingdale’s has once again invited PHS/SPCA to participate in their Shopping Benefit Day on Thursday, October 23.  If you have as little as 20-30 minutes, day or evening, contact PHS/SPCA for your invitation.  When you contact us to receive your invitation (remember – ask for one only if you can visit Bloomingdale’s on Oct. 23), that invitation will have a card in it.  Present this card upon entering Bloomingdale’s. If you’re unable to make it down to Bloomingdale’s, please pass the card along to a family member or friend that will be able to drop it off.  For every card dropped off, PHS/SPCA will receive $5 and if we are the charity that drops off the most cards over 350, we get $5,000!

A Home for the Holidays Gala Ball

Please join the Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA Auxiliary celebrate our annual “A Home for the Holidays” gala ball and auction on Saturday, November 8 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Foster City.  There will be a live and silent auction, as well as dinner and dancing, music by Pride & Joy.
